Mr. Alexander is a brilliant artist who enjoys creating with fabric, paper and sound.
Phillip Alexander was educated at Butler University and the famed Fashion Institute of Technology where he holds a BFA in design. He has been working in the apparel industry for more then twenty years and has honed his skills by working as an apprentice to a tailor in his teens, than landing a job with the well-established American brand Brooks Brothers as a senior tailor. Phillip first job in New York whilst still in college was with the famed women-wear brand Eileen Fisher. He worked as a designer, sample maker, cutter and lead patternmaker. While in college he created his own design firm scoring success, by selling his first collection to some of New York’s premiere boutiques and department store. After a few seasons he tried his hand as a senior designer/consultant for major apparel/sleepwear companies, where he worked with head-designers and sales teams to create new brands and sale strategies, for brands such as the ever-trendy Planet Sleep. Here Phillip helped established companies broaden their market base and re-focus their brands toward a younger demographic. He learned the business of production and importing, through traveling overseas and working closely with Asian factories. Phillip also shopped the European textile/apparel markets, which helped develop a strong sense of trend spotting and forecasting. Mr. Alexander is now developing a life style brand under his own name offering women’s ready to wear, menswear, and home decor product. Art is very important and a major part of the design community. He's worked, as graphic artist, illustrator and studio designer where he quickly moved up the ranks to assistant the Art Director with development and branding. He is a couturier to private clients; teaches courses in apparel design and uses his artist ability as an art therapist. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/carla337/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/carla337/support
